Canby FCA Visit

Updated: Apr 7, 2022

Friday morning I got the lovely opportunity to travel to Canby FCA. Robin and I took a 40 minute road trip to speak about camp again! Instead of the usual FCA donuts I was used to they brought in breakfast pizza and orange juice. YUM! I opened in prayer and then we started the ice breaker. We decided to play a game of biblical pictionary. We gave them two bible stories: Noah’s Ark and Joseph’s Rainbow Coat. The girls table in the middle ended up winning. Robin and I then started talking about camp. We have been going around to local FCA huddles trying to recruit for camp huddle leaders. Robin asked me a few questions:

WHAT CAMPS HAVE YOU ATTENDED?

I have attended the FCA day camp and Leadership camp.

WHAT IMPACT HAS CAMP HAD ON YOUR DAILY LIFE?

Leadership camp has definitely had the largest impact on me. It has taught me not only how to live out my own faith but how to live it out in a way that mirrors Christ and inspires others.

WHAT WOULD YOU TELL SOMEONE THINKING ABOUT GOING TO CAMP?

If you are thinking about camp GO!!!!! I promise you the gain you will get from spending that much time around Christ centered people out ways the cost in every way shape and form!!!

WHAT DOES THE JUNIOR SPORTS CAMP DAY LOOK LIKE?

The junior sports camp is honestly one of my favorite days of the year. You have a couple sessions of playing sports with your huddle and have a dog patch olympics tournament. My favorite part of the day though is getting to sit down with the kids and really talk through who Jesus is with them and make those connections! The worship is also super amazing!!!

WHAT IS IT LIKE TO BE A HUDDLE LEADER?

Being a huddle leader is so fun! You get to place sports all day and really just let loose. Teaching kids that everything you do is for the glory of the king is something you don’t really get to do a lot! Going to public school coaches can’t really plant the seeds of competing for Christ so getting to help do that super early on is so heart warming.

HOW DO YOU FEEL EQUIPPED TO SERVE?

Full honesty, I never felt fully equipped but Jesus says you should never wait for the circumstances to be right. If you wait till you feel fully ready you will never do something. Jump in! Do it! Even if you don’t feel fully comfortable! I promise you I learn just as much from my kids as they learn from me!

This isn’t the first and it won’t be the last time you hear me plug for camp. Please do not hesitate to reach out if you want to serve!!! Robin and I ended our morning grabbing some delicious sweet treats at the bakery across the street from the high school!!! 🍩🍩
