Hello friends and welcome to my first blog post. I am so excited to get this started!!!!! As many of you know Christmas is my favorite holiday of the year (my name is literally Holly though so you probably saw that coming) I love everything about the season. I love Christmas lights, ugly sweater competitions, and baking cookies with my grandma. But sometimes in the hustle and bustle of trying to find that perfect gift or make sure you make it to family dinner on time the real reason for the season gets lost.
I think the saying “Jesus is the reason for the season” gets lost in cliche. Once you really sit down and think about it however the saying hits deep. This time of year is a celebration of the start of the most miraculous story of all time. God sent the Emmanuel to the earth to save us from ALL of our sins. It is the beginning of THE biggest act of love in history; God sending his only son to die for us on the cross. God gave us the greatest gift any of us could ever imagine (another cliche I know).
Now as I was thinking about Jesus and the Christmas season I started to think about how Jesus is the example that God sent us to live by. We should always be striving to walk in his footsteps. How can we act more like Jesus this Christmas season? Mark 10:45 says “For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life for ransom to many”. We should be focusing on what gifts we can bestow onto others instead of focusing on what’s under our own tree. Go out and spread His Good Word!!!! Encourage others to meet Him because Jesus will always be the reason! Amen.
